Blue
Skies
A feature-length documentary by Joel Kaswan Meilijson and Amira Stone
This documentary follows a summer with Wisconsin’s longest running water ski team and the ongoing construction of an Anishinaabe wigwam. With kids at its center, the film observes how tradition, lineage, and relationship to material manifest in two distinct communities under the same blue skies of Wisconsin’s Northwoods.
In Northern Wisconsin lies Forest County, home to two Native American reservations, 350,000 acres of national forest, unlimited fish fry, and not a single traffic light. An intimate portrait of summer, Blue Skies observes how tradition is shared and safeguarded across age, race, and class.
